3-3-21 THOUGHTS

Ps 55:1-2   Give ear to my prayer, O God; And do not hide Yourself from my supplication. 2  Give heed to me and answer me; I am restless in my complaint and am surely distracted,

I’m thinking about prayer this morning.  What an awesome privilege that you and I can talk to the ruler of the universe!  It is HIS idea, not ours.  It is our nature to want to turn life into habit. This is NOT the place to do that.  When the mind and the heart leave and process rules, we no longer have prayer!  We might have an event, time may be spent, but prayer is not accomplished.
Preacher, are you speaking from experience?  Yes!  I am. Sometimes a prayer is more a needful yearning than good words.
Rom 8:26-28  In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words; 27  and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. 28  And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.
Gal 4:6    Because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, "Abba! Father!"
Wow!  I am thrilled every time I read those verses.
Eph 6:18  With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints,
Jude 1:20  But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit,
Ps 42:1-4a    As the deer pants for the water brooks, So my soul pants for You, O God. 2  My soul thirsts for God, for the living God; When shall I come and appear before God? 3  My tears have been my food day and night, While they say to me all day long, "Where is your God?" 4  These things I remember and I pour out my soul within me.
These are days of our “pouring out from the soul”!  At least they ought to be!
Luke 22:44-46    And being in agony He was praying very fervently; and His sweat became like drops of blood, falling down upon the ground. 45  When He rose from prayer, He came to the disciples and found them sleeping from sorrow, 46  and said to them, "Why are you sleeping? Get up and pray that you may not enter into temptation."
Luke  6:12    It was at this time that He went off to the mountain to pray, and He spent the whole night in prayer to God.
There is so much for us to learn!

My Prayer:
Lord teach us to pray.  Show us what you have in mind for our praying.  Through this great gift, may we draw closer and closer to you.  Help us to believe in the power of prayer.  Help us always to ask believing.  May we never be selfish in prayer.  We love you.   In Jesus name       Amen
